DSES is a SME engaging with European, UK international bodies and global industries to ensure that best environmental practices, including restoration, are used in marine environment and are based on the latest scientific knowledge. DSES focuses on deep-water fisheries, oil and gas, mining and genetic resources, but also has interest in the use of spatial management measures in industrial developments and the conservation of biodiversity in the deep ocean. DSES advises on mitigation measures for resource development as well as the importance of marine protected areas in the natural remediation of deep-sea ecosystems.
