Mediterranean Conservation Society (MCS)

MCS is a young membership based NGO established in 2012 by a group of conservationists ranging from well-known business men and their families, to scientists and local fishermen. It is based in Izmir, Turkey and collaborates with the Faculty of fisheries and Biology at Ege University to host graduate students for Masters and phD projects which align with the goals of the NGO. Even though the organization is young it has been awarded with Whitley Nature Conservation in 2013 and with UNDP Equator Initiative Award Nature Conservation 2014 with in this 3 years. MCS work to conserve the Mediterranean ecosystem and to support communities to develop sustainable livelihoods through projects that are locally appropriate and based on good science and traditions.
