A Debate on the progress on the protection of Essential Fish Habitats under Article 8 of the EU Common Fisheries Policy and its contribution to rebuilding European fish stocks by 2020. This discussion will take place in the context of implementing the ecosystem-based approach of the CFP and particularly the delivery of multiannual plans. The MERCES team working on the restoration of coastal shallow hard bottoms and mesophotic habitats just concluded a 4-day intensive training workshop. The workshop, held between Barcelona and L'Estartit - Blanes with field work at Medes Islands, was aimed at sharing best practices in marine restoration developed by MERCES partners working on these habitats.
